If you haven’t built strong professional relationships, this is the right time now. Start now. Research shows the ability to empathize with, connect with and influence others are the pivotal skills for success.,
Most of the time, people fail in building strong professional relationships. With lots of research on the subject of relationships, I figured out three crucial reasons here:
1) Focus on networking not in building strong professional relationships 2) Lack of time, at times people do want to build relationships, but due to lack of time they are not investing in building relationships 3) Don’t know how to make a professional relationship.
When I’m talking about a relationship, make sure, that means long term connect. Relationship word itself defines long-term connect.
Networking is short term. Even if few, change your focus from networking to build a relationship. The thread of networking is thinner and will quickly break when times get tough. A comment from a very senior executive: “I was always mindful of the importance of healthy relationships, but I never invested the time to think through the mutual value in a relationship or how to achieve it Research says leaders globally, across industries, and geographically struggle in building relationships though leaders have many followers. The leader’s who had strong relationships have seen these common traits, follow them 1) A clear purpose: The base of connection, intention, and how the relationship is relevant to each other, clarity on these 3 aspects is essential for both the parties.
2) An understanding of the type of bond needed: Before initiate building any relationship, knowledge is essential for what kind of professional relationship is going to help you?
3) A commitment to pursuing the relationship even when times get tough: Powerful relationships don’t emerge overnight and don’t disappear overnight. They are robust. Powerful connections have bouts of discord and disagreements. In this, it has been seen at times one party invest more in the relationship, though, without grudges, they grow. It is essential to be mindful of both parties or one.
Do remember these traits in building professional relationships. Keep growing….
