Do emotions play role here too?
For me, The Art Of Persuasion is more of a Changing the person’s perspective, attitude and behaviour towards an objective or an idea.
Changing perspective and attitude from what to what matters a lot? One must have clarity on it.
The art of Persuasion very much touches your feelings.
Nobody is an exception; neither a leader nor an entrepreneur or a professional. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are; feelings touch everybody. In the process of the art of Persuasion, you feel a sense of achievement when:
- You get the opportunity to communicate: How can this apply to all the aspects of life? In this particular phase, communication happening means your efforts in any direction are responding or opening a new path to work more;
- You receive the response: Immediately getting the outcome in any form.
The two aspects above will open the pathways and inspire people to take the next step.
Similarly, you feel frustrated very quickly when:
- You don’t get any response;
- You are not heard, or you don’t get the opportunity to speak up.
Persuasion is an art. Yes, I used to believe it is so easy to chase passions or people.
It didn’t take much time. My myth soon disappeared the moment I started chasing clients, and following my passion, the latter one I found more challenging.
When I’m talking about Persuasion, it means a continuous effort to get the results you want. You must have clarity about what you want before starting the process of pursuing.
What happens when it comes to pursuing a passion:
When you pursue your passion, you have to be aware of how you will pursue various weathers of your life. Most people stop following their passion in the roller coaster ride of their life because they are not aware of maintaining energy, motivation and flow to keep it alive.
Similarly, people chase for various reasons in various sectors:
- Leaders pursue teams to reach their goals and get the results.
- Entrepreneurs chase clients to sell their products and services.
- To adapt to changes, you also need Persuasion.
- Parents chase their children;
- Wives chase their husbands. It happens very often, and efforts continue until life ends or as long as life goes on.
Much more….
Persuasion is very much connected with emotional psychology.
Why is Persuasion an art?
Persuasion signifies, you are trying to change their thoughts and biases, which certainly doesn’t happen abruptly. It takes time.
The very first step is to make people ready to listen to you. Yes, 60 % to 80% of people won’t like to listen to you.
There are two steps:
- Pursuing people who are not ready to listen to you;
- Seeking those who are listening to you.
In the latter phase, you are going to change the psychology of another person.
If people consistently using another product for a long time, you have to develop their trust in your product. For that, you have to convince them that it will add more value to life. Simultaneously, it would help if you showed them how it is technically better than the old one. Here you are shifting their thoughts and beliefs and developing new ones. It is not going to happen instantly. It takes lots of time.
You are certainly in a better position if you find people who are ready to listen to you. These are the clients whom you can chase for a long time.
For people who are not listening to you, after trying a couple of times, try “THE PAUSE METHOD”, which is to stop chasing them for some time and restart; you will get the results. I don’t recommend trying this method with people who are already giving thought to your words. By taking a break, you will represent your lack of seriousness in that product.
Similarly, if you are pursuing your organisation for your promotion, keep reminding them in a way or another that it is essential. The moment you stop following them, you will lose all the efforts that you have invested. Later on, it will go as a fresh start, or you might have to make more effort.
Chasing and encouraging others is comparatively easier than encouraging and pursuing ourselves. People find pursuing their dreams or goals the most challenging thing to accomplish.
80 %of people fail to pursue what they want. When people follow their passion, it is easy to dishearten in the absence of getting results. As human beings, we want results quickly, which doesn’t happen.
Hardly 20 % of people are self-motivated and self-inspired, although it is essential to maintain energy and keep going on. The following inspiration or hiring a coach can help motivate and challenge yourself.
Why do people fail in the Art of Persuasion? The core reasons are:
- Lack of focus,
- Getting disheartened easily,
- Expectations of getting quick results,
- Failing to address the gaps,
How can we make it a success:
- Building the emotional connection;
- Focusing on the final results;
- Focusing on the needs
- Staying motivated and motivating others;
- Learning and application;
- Pursuing consistently, never giving up.
- Finding the right way of expression and communication.
I’m the kind of person who, if nothing works for me, go deep down under the roots and find out the core reason why it is not working for me.
Reconsider what didn’t work and actions that can be taken:
- Focusing on the way of communication.
- Figuring out what they want to hear.
- Finding out ways to talk in their language
- What did you miss?
- Tactics: Be efficient to change the conversation according to the needs.
